A Gainesville man was arrested Friday on multiple warrants from a Feb. 26 domestic violence incident.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Derreck Booth said Juan Daniel Canela-Flores, 26, was stopped by deputies on Silver Ridge Drive at Silver Wood Walk at around 11:20 a.m.
Deputies knew Canela-Flores was wanted for domestic violence. He allegedly stepped out of the vehicle, pulled away from deputies and ran on foot.
According to Booth, the Warrant Service Unit took Canela-Flores into custody shortly after he ran.
During the domestic incident on Feb. 26, Canela-Flores allegedly grabbed a 28-year-old female victim by her hair and pulled her to the ground in a home in the 3000 block of Silver Ridge Drive.
Booth said Canela-Flores punched an 11-year-old boy in the face when the boy got between Canela-Flores and the female victim.
The hit resulted in a mark and bruising to the boy’s face. The violence allegedly occurred in the presence of three other children ranging in age from one to nine.
After the incident, Canela-Flores fled the scene in a car.
No one was transported to the hospital.
Canela-Flores was charged with Battery under the family violence act (misdemeanor), simple battery under the Family Violence Act (misdemeanor) and third-degree cruelty to children (misdemeanor) – three times for the Feb. 26 incident. He was charged with driving while license suspended/revoked and obstruction of an officer (misdemeanor) in connection with the stop.
He is being held at the Hall County Jail without bond.
