Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is beginning volunteer recruitment for its annual "Sweep the Hooch" cleanup effort.
This year's event will be held on Saturday, March 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It's the 14th annual volunteer cleanup of the Chattahoochee River and its tributaries and parks.
More than 60 cleanup sites are being advertised, with 11 of those being in Northeast Georgia.
“Sweep the Hooch has brought together so many communities, spread over 200 river miles, to protect and enjoy all the Chattahoochee has to offer,” Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Outings Director Tammy Bates said. “Each year we recruit more volunteers and remove more trash, making this a truly impactful day of service to the waterways that we all rely on and enjoy.”
In Hall County, there will be two sites apiece at Don Carter State Park and Holly Park as well as one at Longwood Park. There will also be sites available in Gwinnett, Forsyth, White and Habersham counties.
