Georgia Gwinnett College touts 4% enrollment growth over last year

Georgia Gwinnett College's spring enrollment numbers are in, and the school says it has seen a 4 percent increase from this time last year.

The numbers released by the school this week showed spring enrollment at 11,115 students. GGC's Vice President for Enrollment Management Michael Poll said the school has now seen five consecutive semesters of increasing enrollment.

“If you combine the new student application increases with gains we’ve been seeing in retention, there’s no reason to believe we won’t continue this enrollment growth,” Poll said.

Poll added that new student admissions for the spring 2024 semester are up 6 percent from fall 2023 and are at an all-time high for the school. He touted several reasons for the school's increasing enrollment, with the primary one being the college's "Instant Decision Day" events, where admissions counselors provide on-the-spot admission decisions to high school seniors.

Poll said GGC has also sent admissions teams to every state that borders Georgia: Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

“We are so fortunate to be in a position where we're seeing growth, where a lot of our colleagues in other intuitions around the state and across the country are not seeing that,” Poll said, “But we’re not taking it for granted. We want to continue that upward momentum.”
