A longtime Hall County Government staffer is the lone finalist to become the next Barrow County Manager.
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners voted last week to name Srikanth Yamala the finalist for the position. Yamala is currently the director of Community Development and Infrastructure for Hall County.
Yamala has worked with Hall County for nearly 20 years and he said he's grateful both for his time with Hall County as well as the opportunity to take the Barrow job.
"It has been a privilege serving the citizens of Hall County and I appreciate the opportunities afforded to me," Yamala said Wednesday. "I want to thank the Barrow County Board of Commissioners for putting their faith in me and I look forward to the possibility working with Barrow County staff and serving the board, constitutional officers and the citizens of Barrow with the highest levels of integrity and transparency."
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners will meet on Friday, February 16 to approve the contract for Yamala and confirm him as the next county manager.
Commission Chairwoman Pat Graham said she's excited to bring Yamala into the job.
"We did an exhaustive search...we had 30 applicants, we interviewed five candidates and Srikanth was by far the most qualified applicant," Graham said. "He's got an excellent work history, an excellent career with Hall County Government, and we're very fortunate to have somebody of his quality and his character be named as our finalist."
Yamala has served several roles in his time with Hall County Government, including serving as the county's planning and development director as well as overseeing public works and utilities.
