Gainesville man arrested after chase in South Hall

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Gainesville man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading law enforcement on a pursuit in South Hall County.

B.J. Williams with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said a deputy tried to pull over Roberto Carlos Yebra, age 26, on Ga. 53 near Valley Creek Drive just before 3:00 a.m. for suspected DUI. Yebra, however, reportedly did not stop.

"He continued westbound on Winder Highway (Ga. 53) and turned left onto Cedar Ridge Drive," Williams said. "He came up to the entrance gate of The Walden at Oakwood apartment complex. At that point, Mr. Yebra veered down an embankment and the vehicle rolled."

Williams said while Yebra suffered minor injuries in the crash, his male passenger was seriously injured.

Yebra was arrested on a list of charges including fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, reckless driving and serious injury by vehicle. He remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
