Buford City Schools Superintendent Melanie Reed will retire at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
That will mark the end of a career in education that spanned over three decades.
"It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve the Buford community in this capacity," Reed said. "I have confidence in our current administrative leadership to continue Buford's proud tradition of excellence after I retire. Although my retirement has been announced, I still intend to accomplish much during my remaining time with the Buford Wolves."
The Buford School System said that the Board of Education would begin discussions in the coming months to begin the process of picking a successor to Reed.
Reed’s career in education lasted 33 years, with 31 of those in the Buford City School System.
