North Georgia Technical College recently has named four of its students as finalists for the state of Georgia's Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the statewide program for Georgia's Technical College System. They honor excellence in academics and leadership among the state's technical colleges.
NGTC's finalists are Tiana Drake, Registered Nursing student of Lavonia, Yuliya Havrylesku, Culinary Arts student of Winder, Sierra Phillips, Welding student of Toccoa and Stacy Snyder, Registered Nursing student of Murrayville.
The four finalists will compete on January 9, 2025 before a panel of business, civic and industry leaders for the college's 20-25 GOAL winner, with the winner to represent NGTC at the regional and state level competitions.
Madison Hopkins is the NGTC's GOAL coordinator, and says in a release, "On behalf of North Georgia Technical College, we are very proud of this outstanding group of GOAL nominees for their hard work and dedication to pursuing excellence in their chosen fields of study. Each nominee did a tremendous job stepping out of their comfort zone and sharing their individual stories and perspectives on the importance of technical education."
