A South Carolina man suspected of shooting and attempting to murder three people is arrested in Gwinnett County.
Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) uniform officers arrested a suspect wanted for three counts of attempted murder out of Seneca, South Carolina.
On Nov. 27, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the GCPD was contacted by the Seneca Police Department in reference to 20-year old Emmanuel Williams of Seneca, SC. Williams was wanted for three counts of attempted murder out of their jurisdiction for of shooting three people, one of them a 1-year-old child. Seneca authorities were under suspicion he was heading to Gwinnett County.
A press release from GCPD indicates that Williams was located a short time later at Sugarloaf Parkway and North Brown Road. An officer reportedly went behind William’s vehicle and activated his blue lights to conduct a traffic stop when the suspect suddenly crossed all lanes of traffic and started driving recklessly to flee from officers. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, reaching speeds of 80 mph.
Police add that Williams approached the intersection of Sugarloaf Parkway and Duluth Highway, officers were waiting for him. As Williams was turning right onto Duluth Highway, an officer attempted a PIT maneuver and struck the driver’s side of William’s vehicle, with the cruiser, causing Willliams to lose control and stop.
Williams was arrested before being transported to a local hospital to be checked for injuries, and later then taken to the Gwinnett County Jail for local charges of driving without a seatbelt, felony fleeing to elude a police officer, unsafe lane change, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, driving over a gore, speeding, and following too closely.
