Piedmont University and College of Athens have formalized a new agreement that will create a clear pathway for transfer students that will enhance opportunities in the field of education.
The partnership will now see undergraduate students that complete an associate’s degree (AA or AS) at College of Athens to transfer to Piedmont University Athens Campus to complete a bachelor’s degree with a major in Elementary Education or Special Education.
“This partnership accelerates seamless pathways, ensuring College of Athens students have a clear route to achieve their academic and professional goals,” said Marshall M. Criser, III, president, Piedmont University. “This agreement reflects our shared values to meet critical workforce needs in the state.”
The partnership will also assist College of Athens students who obtain a bachelor’s degree at either College of Athens or Piedmont University to enter a graduate education program to obtain Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification.
"College of Athens is honored to collaborate with another Christian college to provide a teacher certification opportunity for those students who wish to serve in public schools,” said Dr. Marcia Wilbur, president, College of Athens.
While the agreement does not guarantee admission, it does offer the framework for students to follow and help them align their courses with Piedmont’s degree requirements.
This agreement will be reviewed regularly by both parties to ensure continued transfer compatibility of courses and that students are receiving the most up-to-date guidance for their academic journeys.
