A Lawrenceville man is facing charges in connection with a crash that left a Gainesville man dead in East Hall County Wednesday night.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday morning that Aman Panjwani, age 24, is facing charges in connection with the wreck that happened around 10:30 p.m. on Old Cornelia Highway north of Shady Valley Road.

"Preliminary details of the investigation determined (Panjwani) was traveling northbound on Old Cornelia Highway and missed a turn, making a U-turn in the vicinity of the crash site," the sheriff's office said. "As he negotiated a curve in the road, Panjwani traveled into the oncoming lane and struck the victim's vehicle head on."

The victim, who has since been identified as Stephen Lee Wilson, age 53, was pronounced dead at the scene. Panjwani did not request medical treatment.

Panjwani is facing charges including second-degree vehicular homicide. He remained in the Hall County Jail as of late Thursday morning.
