Gas main leak in Gainesville blocked a portion of McEver Road Tuesday morning

Hall County safety officials were directing traffic away from a portion of McEver Road in Gainesville Tuesday morning, due to a reported gas main leak.

Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) social media page reports that the diversion of traffic was taking place between Nachoochee Trail and Lights Ferry Road due to a reported gas main leak. Atlanta Gas Company crews were reported on scene after of 8:00 a.m., with traffic redirected to area alternates.  HCSO officials say the roadway was open to traffic just before 9:30 a.m.,

Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) spokesperson Kimberlie Ledsinger tells AccessWDUN that the initial call came in at around 8:00 a.m. to a construction site off McEver Road. HCFR crews with the HCSO assisting blocked the road to prevent exposures, while Atlanta Gas Company responded begin patching the pipe and shut off the gas source.

No injuries have been reported, and Ledsinger says the area was safe and secured as of 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.  Cause for the gas main break has not been released.
