Gas prices drop minimally in Georgia, while some areas see increases from one week ago

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Prices are holding relatively steady at the gas pumps across Georgia this week.

AAA of Georgia is showing the average for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline is $2.93 per gallon today (Monday), one penny lower than one week ago, but 21 cents higher than one month ago.

Montrae Waiters of  AAA says the approach of Hurricane Raphael has halted crude oil production along the Gulf of Mecico coast, forcing the price rate slightly increase overall, with supply slowing in rate for consumers.

Since last week, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline dropped by 2 cents, to $3.08 per gallon, due to the threat of the rare November hurrcane in the gulf.

Hall County commuters are seeing an average price of around $2.86 per gallon, with the lowest average in northeast Georgia found in Hart County at $2.77, and the highest in the region found in White County, at just over $3 per gallon.
