White County has issued a full statement on a crash that blocked State Highway 75 Tuesday morning.
They report that just after 6 a.m., White County 911 Communications received reports of an overturned tanker tractor-trailer in a ditch alongside Highway 75 North at the intersection of Clayton Road.
The tractor-trailer was operated by The Cashion Company, Inc. from South Carolina and was en route to Cleveland, Tennessee.
Initial reports confirmed no injuries from the accident.
The truck was carrying roughly 33,000-lbs of isopropyl alcohol, a flammable substance.
HazMat operation was initiated to take care of the liquid before removing the vehicle from the ditch.
A 1,000-foot safety perimeter was established around the scene.
A recommended evacuation was also issued to residents and businesses within that radius.
All roads within the perimeter were also closed.
White County reports that there were “no environmental damages or concerns as a result of this accident.”
The road was fully reopened at 3:15 p.m.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by Georgia State Patrol (GSP) and Georgia Department of Public Safety’s (GDPS) Motor Carrier Compliance Division.

A late morning truck crash has been reported to be blocking access to State Highway 75 between Towns and White Counties Tuesday morning.
The Towns County Sheriff's Office social media post says they are directing traffic off of State Highway 75 onto State Route 180 to avoid further issues, due to an accident on the White County side of Unicoi Mountain after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.
White County's social media post also notes the State Route 75 closure at Clayton Road is due to an overturned semi truck on the roadway, and advises commutes to seek alternate routes Tuesday morning.
No official word from area law enforcement on whether other vehicles were involved, or if any injuries were reported. Towns County officials expect the roadway to be blocked for 2-3 hours.
