Cherokee Bluff edged closer to the top in the latest Georgia High School Association playoff rankings released this week.
The Bears (8-0, .67668 PSR) are .011 behind Sandy Creek (8-0, .68805 PSR) in the Class 3A rankings with a massive Region 8-3A battle against Jefferson (6-2, .65282), who is ranked fourth in the rankings, on Friday.
North Hall (6-2, .60429 PSR) remained at No. 11. Lumpkin County (5-3, .53357 PSR) dropped three spots to No. 23. West Hall is No. 34, Dawson County No. 38. Chestatee is 41st. East Hall is 47th, and White County is 48th.
In Class 2A, Union County (4-4, .50160 PSR) jumped over East Jackson to No. 23, while East Jackson (4-4, .49977 PSR) dropped five spots to 24th.
In Class A Division 1, Commerce (5-3, .57473 PSR) is currently 19th, down one spot from last week. However, taking the private schools out of the rankings, Commerce would be No. 12. Rabun County (6-2, .53802 PSR), who was off last week, dropped seven spots to No. 30 but is the 19th highest-ranked public school.
The GHSA will use the playoff rankings to seed the playoffs this season in Class A, Division 1 through Class 3A.
