Fallen tree on mobile home kills sleeping man in Hall County

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

A 20-year-old Guatemalan man was killed Wednesday morning after a tree fell on top of a mobile home while he was sleeping.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the residence on the 2300 block of Athens Highway at around 4:45 a.m. Authorities arrived on the scene to discover that a large tree had crushed a section of the mobile home, trapping Henry Geovanny Mendez Aguilar in his bed.

A second resident who was in the same part of the home at the time of the incident sustained non-life–threatening injuries.

Mendez Aguilar was in the United States on a work visa, according to a release from HCSO. His body was transported for an autopsy.
