The 2024 Lanierland basketball tournament will be before Christmas this year.
Hall County athletic director Stan Lewis confirmed on Wednesday the state's oldest holiday tournament will be December 19-21.
"We discussed this last week," Lewis said. "We had a meeting and decided it was best to go back and get input from the principals before we took a vote. Yesterday (Tuesday), we met as a committee, took a vote, and that's where we are right now."
Although the details haven't been hammered out yet, the host sites are scheduled to be East Hall, North Hall and Gainesville.
"Once we get in there and start working on the details, and if we find out that it's just too much of a challenge, we may go in a different direction," Lewis said. "But as of right now, that's where the committee is."
Lewis said the change will only be for the 2024 season. According to the AccessWDUN archives, the tournament was played before Christmas until the 2014 season.
