Louisiana man arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop in Gainesville

The Hall County Sheriff's Office arrested a Louisiana man on Saturday, Jan. 27 near Gainesville after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop.

HCSO Public Information Officer B.J. Williams said Michael Wayne Ball, Jr., 28, of Slidell, La, was stopped for a headlight and windshield tint violation at around 11 p.m. on Atlanta Highway near Pearl Nix Parkway.

Ball was also allegedly driving without a license. 

While being questioned by deputies, Ball ran from the scene and refused commands to stop Williams said. 

A K9 team tracked and found the suspect climbing out of a creek behind a store on Atlanta Highway. 

Williams said Ball further refused commands to stop running and as a result, he was tased and taken into custody.

Ball is charged with two counts of obstruction of an officer and a single count of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, all misdemeanors.

He is also charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon because he was convicted of a felony in Louisiana.

Ball remains in custody as of the last report.
