Two Forsyth County departments were honored Tuesday at a board of commissioners meeting.
Forsyth County officials said the Department of Public Transportation and the Department of Senior Services were recognized for their achievements.
The Department of Public Transportation was awarded the Innovation Award by the Georgia Transit Association in 2023.
The Department of Senior Services achieved national accreditation from the National Council on Aging for meeting the standards of excellence at senior centers.
Senior Services Director Ruthie Brew said out of 12,000 senior centers across the country, only 100 have this accreditation, placing Forsyth County Senior Services Sexton Hall Enrichment Center and Charles Place Senior Center in the top one percent.
