Logan Seavey rolls to Friday Chili Bowl qualifying win

By Bryan Hulbert

TULSA, Okla. - Logan Seavey edged out Ryan Timms in a late race scramble to score the win in Friday night’s Chili Bowl Nationals qualifier at Oklahoma’s Tulsa Expo Raceway.

Both Seavey and Timms will now focus on Saturday’s night’s A-Feature race.

The win for Seavey, piloting the Kevin and Jordan Swindell owned No. 39, came down to a mad dash throughout the top five over the final 13 laps.

The start of the race was a battle between Timms and Steven Snyder, Jr., with Timms leading the opening seven laps. Snyder took the lead and held point through lap 15, when Timms reclaimed the lead.

Meanwhile, Seavey was racing forward from his seventh place starting spot, moving to third on lap 19. He began closing on Timms before the caution flew on lap 26 for a flip by Justin Grant on the frontstretch.

A late caution set up a five lap dash for the win, as Andrew Felker grabbed second with three laps to go. Seavey reclaimed the spot and again set his sights on Timms. Coming to the white flag, Seavey challenged for the spot and grabbed the lead. Seavey held onto the point and went on to win by 0.608-seconds over Timms.

Felker crossed the line in third, with Snyder, Jr. in fourth, and Amerson Axsom in fifth.
