DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — Lumpkin County ran its win streak to three with a solid 53-44 road win over rival Dawson County on the road in Region 7-3A on Wednesday.
It was the first region win of the season for the Indians (6-10, 1-4 Region 7-3A). For the Tigers, it was their fourth straight loss (8-8, 1-3 Region 7-3A).
Lumpkin County led just 7-5 at the end of the first quarter but used a 21-9 second to take a 28-14 halftime lead. The Tigers chipped away in the second half.
Dawson County got within 34-25 by the end of the third quarter but the Indians matched them in the fourth to hang on for the win.
Dawson County will be back in Region 7-3A action on Friday traveling to White County. Lumpkin County heads to Murray County on Saturday in a non-region contest.
