Gainesville woman killed in Monday Forsyth County pedestrian accident

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office released Wednesday morning the name of a woman who was killed Monday evening in a pedestrian accident.

The agency said the victim in the roadway incident on Keith Bridge Road was Melissa Browne, 44, of Gainesville. Her next of kin have been notified.

The sheriff's office previously told AccessWDUN that Browne was wearing dark clothing and attempting to cross an unlit area between the Waffle House and QT store along Keith Bridge at Freedom Parkway Monday evening at around 8:30 p.m. That's when she was hit by a Dodge Caravan being driven by a man from Cumming.

Forsyth County Sheriff's officials are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident from Monday night.

A release from the agency said a female pedestrian wearing dark clothing was attempting to cross an unlit area between the Waffle House and QT store along Keith Bridge Road at Freedom Parkway Monday evening at around 8:30 p.m. 

The woman reportedly was struck by a Dodge Caravan, driven by a male driver from Cumming.

While the driver immediately stopped to report the collision to authorities, Forsyth County investigators say the victim was pronounced dead at the collision site.  No word on any charges in the case, as it remains under active investigation.
