MT. AIRY, Ga. — Kyia Barrett poured in 23 points and the Habersham Central girls opened Region 8-6A play with a solid 53-43 win over Shiloh on Wednesday at home.
The Lady Raiders (4-8, 1-0 Region 8-6A) used a 14-9 first quarter to grab the lead and led 27-22 at halftime. Hab Central extended its lead to 42-32 heading into the fourth quarter and held off the Lady Generals (3-10, 0-1 Region 8-6A) down the stretch.
Karah Dean added 11 points and Daytona Underwood 8 points for Hab Central.
Allani Ellis paced Shiloh with 12 points and Jazmin Vital had 11 for the Lady Generals.

In a battle of ranked teams, the Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Tigers 47-30 in the second half to get the win at The Buford Arena.
The first half was back-and-forth as Buford (11-1) led 21-18 after the first quarter. But Carver (7-4) used a big second quarter run to eventually take a 40-37 advantage into halftime.
The Lady Wolves rallied in the third quarter behind Ava Grace Watson and Alyssa Green, who combined for 17 points, to take a 62-59 lead into the fourth. Buford held the Lady Tigers to just 11 fourth quarter points to pull away for the double-digit victory.
Watson finished with 22 points to pace Buford. Lydia Ledford added 19 points and Green had 16 for the Lady Wolves. Betty Nguyen and Izzy Rettiger each had 9 points for Buford.
Kayden Cooper led Carver-Columbus with 16 points. Chubb Williams added 15 points and Camryn Thomas and Jazmin Thorton both had 14 points for the Lady Tigers.
