Discarded fireworks blamed for Suwanee house fire

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Officials say improperly discarded fireworks were the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Suwanee on New Year's Eve night.

A social media post by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said the fire was at a home on Camber Well Lane. Officials said crews arriving on the scene found heavy fire on the back of the house extending up into the attic.

The residents of the home were able to escape safely and the fire was eventually put out by fire crews.

Officials said the residents told firefighters that they placed used fireworks into a trash can at the rear of the house, and firefighters determined those fireworks to be the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
