FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Despite charging back from a 20-0 deficit and forcing overtime, Flowery Branch fell to Eastside in double overtime, 39-32, Friday night.
After Eastside scored the first 20 points, the Falcons got on the board midway through the second quarter on a 28-yard touchdown to Jeremiah Ware to cut into the Eagle lead. Eastside scored again right before halftime to take a 26-7 lead into the locker room.
From there, Flowery Branch battled back, scoring from 13 yards out to get to a 26-13 score in the third. After an Eastside field goal late in the third, the Falcons pulled out some trickery to convert a touchdown and cut the lead down to 29-21. Flowery Branch got the football back late in the game and drove down the field to score and convert the two-point conversion to force overtime.
After the two teams traded field goals in the first overtime stanza, Eastside punched it in from two yards out and then intercepted the first play of Flowery Branch's possession to earn the win.
The Falcons will travel to Clarke Central next week.
