Softball: Bluff, EaFo, EHall win; NHall falls in key night in 8-4A

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff moved into third place in Region 8-4A with a huge 13-0 win in three innings over Chestatee on Thursday.

It was one of several big matchups in the region on Thursday.

The Lady Bears (12-8-1, 9-4 Region 8-4A) scored 11 runs in the first inning on seven hits, including two home runs, four walks and two hit batters. Angelina Baronci and Catalina Baronci both went deep in the opening frame for Cherokee Bluff, who had 9 hits.

Payton Davis, Jaycee Archer, and Haley Stephenson combined on a no-hitter and struck out four.

Cherokee Bluff is off until traveling to first place East Forsyth on Tuesday.


EAST FORSYTH 12,
WALNUT GROVE 3 (6 inn)

The Lady Broncos remained atop the region standings with a big road win, their sixth straight.

East Forsyth (15-5, 12-1 Region 8-4A) sits 1 1/2-games ahead of second place North Oconee (17-4, 10-2 Region 8-4A).

Walnut Grove  (11-10, 8-5 Region 8-4A) dropped into a tie for fourth with the loss. The Lady Warriors led 1-0 after the first and 3-1 after the second before East Forsyth staged the rally. 

East Forsyth scored once in the fourth and five in the fifth and five in the sixth to pull away for the victory.

Emma Smallwood had four hits and four RBI, including a home run, and Cadence Alberty had three hits and three RBI, and also belted a home run as well to pace the offense.

Alberty got the complete-game win, allowing just one earned run on four hits.


NORTH OCONEE 2,
NORTH HALL 1

The Lady Trojans dropped into sixth place in the region standings with the tough loss at home.

North Hall (13-6, 7-5 Region 8-4A) now sits one game out of fourth place and 1 1/2-games out of third.


EAST HALL 18,
CEDAR SHOALS 3 (3 inn)

The Lady Vikings used a 15-run second inning to blow open the game for a region win at home on Thursday.

Elvie Armour had four hits and drove in one run while Amari Burce and Emily Ingbritsen each had three hits and three RBI for East Hall  (6-12, 3-10 Region 8-4A).

The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Lady Vikings.
