After having a winning car the first two races of the opening round of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, only to see a win slip away, Denny Hamlin finally sealed the deal on Saturday night in Thunder Valley.
Hamlin took the lead from Ty Gibbs with 134 laps to go at Bristol Motor Speedway, and drove away to the victory. With the win, he made a statement after the race about his title hopes.
“It’s our year. I just feel like we’ve got to put it all together,” Hamlin said. “We’ve got the speed at every different type of race track. Nothing to stop us at this point.”
