By AccessWDUN Staff

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Stephens County rattled off five straight touchdowns after trailing 20-14 to push past White County Friday night by a 56-26 final score.

After the Indians took a 7-0 lead on the opening drive, Tripp Nix hooked up with John Phillips to tie the game up with 5:09 to play. Stephens County answered two minutes later, but the Warriors hit right back with a 21-yard field goal early in the second, followed by a fumble recovery that led to a Nix 10-yard rushing score to give White County a 17-14 lead.

White County forced another fumble on the ensuing kickoff, giving the Warriors another short field, but the Indian defense bowed its back to hold to a 28-yard field goal. From there, the Indians reeled off a late touchdown to take a 21-20 lead into halftime before four third quarter scores stretched the lead to 49-20.

The Warriors fought back on a Ryan Fowler 1-yard score late in the third, but the Indians found one more score on a pick-six to ice the game.

White County will now have two weeks to prepare for their 7-3A opener on the road at Dawson County.
