JEFFERSON, Ga. — Jenna Rapp had a double and a home run to lead Jefferson to a 7-2 win over Heritage-Conyers on Monday in a key Region 8-5A matchup at home.
The Class 5A second-ranked Lady Dragons (11-2, 7-1 Region 8-5A) reclaimed first place in the region with the win, sitting one-half game ahead of Eastside (8-2, 6-1 Region 8-5A). Both teams will be in action on Tuesday.
Jefferson travels to Clarke Central while Eastside plays host to Flowery Branch.
On Monday, Jefferson used a four-run third inning to break a 1-1 tie. Rapp’s home run came in the fourth to push the lead to 7-1. Madison Hanchey drove in three runs while Reagan Hays had two hits and an RBI for the Lady Dragons.
Addison Self went the distance for Jefferson, scattering six hits and giving up two runs. She fanned eight.

The Class 7A top-ranked Lady Wolves played long ball on Monday at the Buford Softball Complex.
Senior Madison Pickens belted three home runs (her 8th, 9th, and 10th of the season) to pace the offense. She led off the game with a home run and finished the game with a two-run blast in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule.
Senior Adriana Martinez hit her third home run of the season in the 4th, and senior Tavye Borders and junior Izzy Rettiger both had two hits on the day.
Buford used a five-run first inning to grab the quick lead and added two runs in the fourth and two in the sixth.
That was more than enough for senior Emma Grace Williams, who cruised to her fifth win of the season. Williams went the distance surrendering just four hits and striking out four in six innings.
The Lady Wolves (13-0, 4-0 Region 8-7A) will get back into region play on Tuesday traveling to Mountain View.
