The Gainesville City School Board announced on Tuesday night the approval of a $13,616,048 operations cost for phase two of the Gainesville City Park stadium improvements.
Some of the operations include the demolition of the current press box and constructing a new press box along with upgrading the restrooms, concession stands and bleachers.
It has been over 40 years since renovations have been made toward the bleachers and press box.
The cost of these improvements come from excess funds in ESPLOST V and VI.
Carroll Daniel Construction has been tasked with these changes.
"It's trying to keep intact, some of the history and the memories that we have, while also giving us an opportunity to kind of showcase city park," Superintendent Jeremy Williams says.
Williams also says that he hopes the construction on these amenities can begin either in late September or early October.
