A Toccoa man was killed in and four others were injured after a two-vehicle wreck in Stephens County on Friday night.

The accident occured on GA 106/Mize Road at Old Mize Road just before 9 p.m.

According to the preliminary crash report from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa, 33-year-old Lacitrus Gholston was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on GA 106.

While negotiating a curve, Gholston lost control of his 2006 Dodge Charger and crossed into the southbound lane where he struck a truck driven by 21-year-old Brian Caleb Phillips of Toccoa.

The impact caused the truck to flip onto its roof and slide on the shoulder before striking a traffic sign which caused the vehicle to flip back onto its tires.

The car driven by Gholston came to an uncontrolled rest on the right shoulder of GA 106 South.

Phillips along with his three passengers, an unnamed 15-year-old boy, 24-year-old Brooke Alyssa Phillips and 18-year-old Breelin S. Reece both of Toccoa, were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with non-life-threatening injuries

Gholston was unrestrained in his vehicle and died at the scene of the crash.
