By AccessWDUN Staff

HOSCHTON, Ga. — For a second straight week, Jackson County needed two overtimes to get to the finish.

This time, however, the Panthers prevailed, holding off Class 7A Central Gwinnett 32-26 at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

Last week, they fell 35-34 to Duluth in double overtime after leading the Bulldogs 21-7 with less than five minutes left.

This time, Jackson County (2-1) did the rallying. The Panthers trailed 20-6 in the second half before storming back behind MJ Spurlin.

The senior running back pounded out 209 yards on 33 carries and scored all five of the Panthers touchdowns. Spurlin has 10 total touchdowns the past two weeks -- seven rushing, two receiving, and he threw a TD pass last week.

Jackson County had 271 yards rushing for the game.

Corey Mcclure had 49 yards on 3 rushes while Zack Scott was 5-of-14 passing for 83 Yards. He added 11 yards rushing.

Jaydan Hibbert had 5 catches for 78 yards for the Panthers.

Jackson County will travel to Mountain View, their third 7A team in a row, to close out its non-region schedule.
