Softball: NHall, EaFo, N Oconee keep pace in 8-4A; Buford, Jefferson get region wins

DANIELSVILLE, Ga. — North Hall moved within one-half game of fourth place in a rugged Region 8-4A with a 10-3 win over Madison County on Thursday on the road.
 
Olivia Mullins allowed just five hits and two earned runs while striking out 12 in a complete-game effort to get the win in the circle.
 
Mullins also had two hits and two RBI. Genesis Satterfield, Bre Stowers, and Mac Taylor all had two hits as well and combined to knock in three runs.
 
The Class 4A sixth-ranked Lady Trojans (10-4, 4-3 Region 8-4A) scored twice in the first and four in the second to run out to a quick lead. They added two each in the fourth and fifth innings.

EAST FORSYTH 8,
SECKINGER 3
 
The third-ranked Lady Broncos battled back from an early deficit and held onto first place in Region 8-4A with a road win on Thursday.
 
Seckinger scored twice in the second to break a 1-1 tie. But East Forsyth (8-3, 7-1 Region 8-4A) scored five times in the sixth to grab the lead. The Lady Broncos added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh.
 
Cadence Alberty had four hits and four RBI to pace the East Forsyth offense. Ava Cowart, Avrie Nowalk, Shelby Conaway, and Cali Marshall all had two hits for the Lady Broncos.
 
Alberty also got the win in the circle, surrendering eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four.

NORTH OCONEE 8,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 4
 
In a battle for second place in 8-4A, the Lady Titans scored six runs over the final two innings to take the win on the road.
 
Catalina Baronci doubled in two runs in the third for a 2-1 for the Lady Bears (7-6-1, 5-3 Region 8-4A) but they eventually fell behind 5-2 going into the sixth. Jaycee Archer closed the gap to 5-4 with a two-run home run in the sixth but North Oconee (11-4, 6-2 Region 8-4A) added three in the seventh to pull away.
 
The win moved the Lady Titans into second place while the Lady Bears dropped into a three-way tie for third.

JEFFERSON 12,
WINDER-BARROW 6
 
Jefferson scored nine runs in the third and fourth innings to erase an early deficit en route to a Region 8-5A win on the road.
 
The Class 5A second-ranked Lady Dragons (9-1, 5-0 Region 8-5A) pushed their lead to two games in the region with the victory.
 
Winder-Barrow (5-5, 3-2 Region 8-5A) jumped on the Lady Dragons with three runs in the first. But Jefferson answered with a two-run double from Reagan Hayes and RBI hits from Avery Hayes and  Jenna Rapp to take a 5-3 lead. The Lady Dragons added four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Madison Hanchey.
 
Addison Self got the win the circle, giving up eight runs and six runs, only three earned, while fanning six.

BUFORD 17,
CENTRAL GWINNETT 0
 
The Class 7A No. 1-ranked Lady Wolves scored seven runs in the first and five each in the second and third in routing the Lady Black Knights in Region 8-7A action.
 
Freshman Janie Goldin had a double and finished with four RBI for Buford  (9-0, 2-0 Region 8-4A). Freshman Brooklyn Atha also had three hits and scored three runs; junior Gabby Pierre had two hits and 3 RBI; and sophomore Summer Castorri had two hits, including a home run, for the Lady Wolves.
 
That was more than enough for senior Emma Grace Williams, who earned her third victory of the season in the circle, pitching a three-inning no-hitter and striking out seven.
 
Buford will play host to Collins Hill on Tuesday in another 8-7A battle.
