RALEIGH, N.C. – Carson Kvapil drove to his fifth CARS Racing Tour Late Model Stock Car feature victory of the season on Saturday at Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina.
But the win was far from a breeze for the Mooresville, North Carolina native.
After dispatching with Bobby McCarty on a late restart, Kvapil pulled away to record the win and stretch out points lead over Brenden Queen.
“We just had a really good car,” Kvapil said. “I really wasn’t expecting this after starting 18th. The goal was to stay out of trouble and finish the race, but at around Lap 50 it was game on. We had great turn and could just get off the corner better than the others. It was pretty fun coming from the back like that.”
Mason Diaz finished in second, with Ronnie Bassett, Jr. in third, Queen in fourth, and Chad McCumbee in fifth.
Landon Huffman, Bobby McCarty, Ryan Millington, Clay Jones, and Mason Bailey rounded out the top 10.
Following three straight races at high-grip tracks, the CARS LMSC Tour heads to the abrasive New River All-American Speedway in Jacksonville, North Carolina on Saturday, September 9. For more information, visit CARSRacingTour.com.
