GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Gainesville went a perfect 3-0 in pool play on the opening day of the Hall County volleyball championships.
North Hall went 2-1, Lakeview Academy 1-2, and Johnson 0-3 in pool play.
It wasn’t as easy as it appeared, however. The Lady Elephants dropped the first set to Lakeview Academy before rallying for a 2-1 (24-26, 25-16, 15-11) victory. Gainesville then swept Johnson 2-0 (25-7, 25-20) and North Hall 2-0 (25-18, 25-23) to close out Thursday’s action.
In their second match, the Lady Lions fell to North Hall 25-12, 25-19 before rebounding to beat Johnson 25-15, 25-15 in the final match of the evening.
Individually for Gainesville, Avery Lindsey led the way with 54 assists, 7 aces, and 15 digs in the three matches. Kyndall Butler followed with 23 kills and 17 digs, Lily Clay added 22 digs, Taylor Reid had 10 kills and 6 digs, and Madison Brown added 14 digs.
Kathy Huynh had 10 digs, Hannah Stewart had 18 kills, 2 blocks, and 10 digs, and Maddie Hinshaw had 4 digs for Gainesville. Kailyn Haven had 9 kills and 2 blocks and Weatherly Clay had 3 kills for the the Lady Elephants.
Leading Lakeview on the night was Addie Gilmer with 15 assists. Maggie Rogers had 12 kills, Taliah Gaither had 4 kills and Addie Gilmer had 9 assists for the Lady Lions.
Gainesville will host the tournament portion on Saturday and open play against East Hall at 2 p.m.
