MONROE, Wash. — Despite entering the ARCA Menards Series West race at Washington’s Evergreen Speedway second in series points behind rival Landen Lewis, Sean Hingorani had maintained confidence that he’s the favorite for the 2023 championship.
On Saturday night, the Venturini Motorsports driver proved why.
Hingorani at Evergreen picked up his fourth West Series win of the season, and he did so in dominating fashion. The 16-year-old from Newport Beach, California spent the first third of the 150-lap race on the 5/8-mile oval riding the back bumper of pole-sitter Tyler Reif before he made the pass for the lead on lap 56.
Hingorani never looked back.
Through a pair of restarts, one after the schedule race break at the halfway point and another for a Tanner Reif crash on lap 82, Hingorani easily pulled away from the competition. He also managed his tires well enough to maintain his healthy lead in the closing stages of the event.
Hingorani beat Tyler Reif to the finish by more than two seconds.
Kole Raz, who made his West Series debut on July 29 with a third-place run at California’s Shasta Speedway, matched that accomplishment with another third-place finish in his second start Saturday at Evergreen.
Lewis finished fourth despite a late push that saw him run as high as second.
Eric Nascimento rounded out the top five.
Trevor Huddleston, Kyle Keller, Jacob Smith, Bradley Erickson, and Todd Souza finished sixth through 10th, respectively.
Now well beyond the halfway point of its season, the West Series will take several weeks off before returning to action on September 30 at California’s All American Speedway.
