WINDER, Ga. — East Hall opened its season with an impressive doubleheader sweep over Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy on Saturday.
The Lady Vikings got a two-hit shutout from Amari Burce in a 12-0 win in the first game and then Aydan Gerrin followed that with a 14-strikeout performance in a 13-4 win to complete the sweep.
Burce had a big day fanning 10 in the first game and then collecting four hits in the second game.
Kaylana Curry was a force at the plate with five hits on the afternoon and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in the first game.
In the opening game, East Hall blew it open with a six-run seventh inning.
Stephanie Guzman-Hernandez took the loss for Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy Varsity Blazers lasting just three innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits, while striking out six and walking none.
East Hall banged out 11 hits in the game with Burce and Aniya Smith each driving in three runs. The Lady Vikings also flashed some leather turing two double plays
In the second game, Gerrin gave up five hits and four runs over seven innings to go with the 14 strikeouts while walking four to get the win
Dayana Banks drove in four runs in the game as part of a 17-hit attack for East Hall. Curry, Gerrin, and Emily Ingbritsen each had two hits for East Hall for the Lady Vikings.
