Large jump in Georgia's gas prices from last week's average.

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Georgia's gas price average continues to increase at the pump compared to a week ago, according to the latest numbers from AAA of Georgia.

Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.55 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. The state average this week is 19 cents more than a week ago, 33 cents more than a month ago, and 23 cents less than this time last year.

Montrae Waiters of AAA says the increase of crude oil prices and refineries having to adjust production because of soaring temperatures causes pump prices to rise.

Hall County's average price for unleaded regular has also soared to $3.55 a gallon this week, with the area's lowest average price reported in Towns County at $3.42 per gallon.

Nationwide, the average price also has jumped significantly, to $3.76 for one gallon or unleaded regular gasoline.
