The Southern-Fried Gaming Expo returned this weekend to the Cobb Galleria Center and Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel in Atlanta with hundreds of arcade, pinball and tabletop gamers in attendance.
The event, which was co-founded by Preston Burt of Gainesville, featured hundreds of games for the public to enjoy.
"There's really something for everyone ... whether you're a tabletop fan, whether you're an arcade enthusiast, whether you're an esports fanatic, we've got you covered," Burt said. "People have a wide variety of things they come to enjoy -- stand-up arcade games, pinball machines ... just a huge variety of stuff."
The freeplay arcade and pinball room at the convention center instantly transported the public to the golden days of arcades, with its variety of lights and sounds.
"It definitely can be considered a sensory overload, but for those of us who grew up in the era of the classic arcade, when you walk in, you hear all the combinations of sound. Pac-Man over here, Mortal Kombat over there, the bells and chimes of pinball, it just brings back so many fun memories," Burt said.
A plethora of games were available for the public to enjoy, ranging from Venom Pinball, a new pinball machine just announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July, to several pinball machines dating back to the early 1930s.
While pinball and arcade machines were a major focus at the expo, Burt said attendees could also enjoy retro home video game consoles, tabletop games, guest panels, wrestling matches and a vintage computer expo.
