Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger called on Georgia lawmakers to fully support his “Secure the Vote” plan and recommit to two previously-passed election integrity laws in a press release on Tuesday.
According to Raffensperger, the "Secure the Vote" plan will be a four-step plan implemented to ensure the “security and accuracy” of the 2024 election.
The four steps include logic and accuracy testing before the election, parallel monitoring during the election, voter review and accountability and risk-limiting audits after the election.
In 2019, legislators passed HB 316, which instituted an auditable paper ballot voting system to secure future Georgia elections. In 2021 they passed SB 202 which further strengthened election integrity by requiring photo ID for absentee by-mail voting and drop box security measures according to a press release from the Secretary of State's office.
Raffensperger has defended these laws in court against what the release calls “left-wing activist groups and Joe Bidens Justice Department.”
Georgia has developed strong relationships with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to review the physical security of voting equipment locations said Raffensperger.
Raffensperger said that various groups have recognized Georgia for its election system's integrity and accessibility, achieving record voter turnout and receiving top rankings for Election Integrity and Voter Accessibility.
