There are just 22 days remaining until the kickoff of the 2023 high school football season. But make no mistake, preparations for the upcoming campaign got underway months ago. And teams throughout northeast Georgia already are in full countdown mode.
With that in mind, we spent the last couple of weeks catching up with programs around our area to get a feel for how spring practice went, how the summer is going, and what coaches believe the fall will look like. Our "Two-a-Days" series honors those old-school grinding sessions that lead us out of summer and into fall, asking each area coach two key questions about the state of their respective programs.
Over the next two weeks, AccessWDUN's Friday Game Night will get you prepped for the start of gridiron action with responses from coaches throughout northeast Georgia.

RIVERSIDE PREP
The 2022 campaign was a trying one for the Eagles, who suffered through their first winless season since 1999 and have dropped 16 straight going back to 2021. And they are in for more changes in 2023.
Now seventh-year head Nick Garrett is having to replace the bulk of his coaching staff and will have to wait until later in the summer to see what his roster will consist of.
We asked Garrett how the coaching searches have been coming along and if he anticipates changes in offensive and defensive philosophies once he gets his staff assembled.
QUESTION: You have had a challenging offseason and are rebuilding your coaching staff. How is that process coming along?
A: We are working on not only seeking the best coaches for our cadet student athletes but also the best fit for our school. We feel pretty good about the quality of applicants for multiple positions.
Q: Do you anticipate having to change the offensive or defensive systems depending on who you hire?
A: We will still be a spread variation offense and on defense we will build around a system that fits our level of talent and football intelligence.
