BERTHOUD, Colo. — Spencer Ralston will be around for the weekend at the Korn Ferry Tour event The Ascendant at the TPC Colorado. But it didn’t come without some late drama.
The Gainesville native shot a second straight 1-under 71 on Friday to make the cut and sits tied for 39th after the first two rounds. He will tee off at 7:55 a.m. local time for Saturday’s third round.
On Friday, Ralston started strong with birdies on Nos 2 and 5 before bogeying the Par 3 8th. He would eventually get to 4-under for the day, and 5-under for the tournament, with back-to-back birdies at 11 and 12 and then another birdie at the Par 5 15th.
But Ralston bogeyed No. 16 and double-bogeyed the Par 4 18th to finish at 71 and 142 for the tournament. He sits nine shots behind leader Nicholas Lindheim, who shot a 5-under 67 one day after posting a 6-under 66.
