The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a Habersham County Jail inmate was found dead in his cell early Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the Habersham County Sheriff's Office, the older man, whose name has not been released, was found dead in his cell at about 3:15 a.m.
The inmate reportedly had numerous health issues.
"As is standard in cases of in-custody deaths, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in the case," the press release said.
