Two men facing 49 charges total in Gwinnett County entering auto case

One man has been arrested while another remains at large on 49 total charges related to a recent series of entering auto cases in Gwinnett County.

According to a press release from the Gwinnett County Police Department, the two men were accused in multiple entering auto cases in the county ranging from mid-April into late May.

A man first reported on April 17 that his vehicle was broken into on White Birch Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville. His firearm was stolen during that incident.

Detectives then discovered a series of entering auto cases in the area of Verner Road and Whitehead Place Drive.

Another victim then reported that their credit cards were stolen on May 17. Those cards were fraudulently used at a Wal-Mart in Lawrenceville. Detectives were able to obtain images of the suspects and a description of the vehicle they were driving while at the Wal-Mart.

Several more entering auto cases were reported on Berkshire Eve Drive in unincorporated Duluth on May 2.

Finally, patrol officers located the suspect's vehicle on May 24 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Authorities found a stolen firearm inside the vehicle.

The lead detective in the case then obtained warrants for the arrest of Bryon Hunt, 27, of Forsyth, and Roy Higgins, 27, of Buford. Hunt was arrested on June 30 at a home on Chablis Court in Lawrenceville. He was charged with 13 counts of entering auto and 11 counts of financial transaction card fraud.

Higgins remained at large as of the last report. He was charged with 10 counts of entering auto, 10 counts of financial transaction card fraud, obstruction, improper lane change, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
