Flowery Branch teen arrested for shooting pellet gun at vehicles on I-985

A Flowery Branch teenager has been charged after allegedly shooting multiple vehicles on Interstate 985 in Hall County Sunday afternoon with a pellet gun, leaving one woman with injuries.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said the 16-year-old boy was charged as a juvenile with one count each of aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts. Additional charges are pending as investigators complete reports on at least nine other vehicles that sustained damage from pellet gunfire.

Investigators believe the teen fired a pellet gun into northbound traffic in the area of Mile Marker 10 north of Friendship Road between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The woman who was injured sustained a non-life-threatening wound when she was hit in the back of the head with a pellet.

The suspect was released into the custody of juvenile authorities.

The investigation remains active.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is investigating a Sunday afternoon incident on I-985 northbound where up to 10 vehicles were struck by pellet gunfire.

A release from the Sheriff's Office says an occupant of one of the vehicles sustained a non-life-threatening injury as a result.

Around 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon from a suspect firing  pellets at the interstate in the area of Friendship Road/Exit 8.

Within minutes, law enforcement was able to locate a person of interest in the vicinity where the gunfire was believed to have originated and was being questioned by criminal investigators as of Sunday night.
