ATLANTA — Atlanta United fell 4-0 to New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night as the team's unbeaten streak was snapped at seven matches.

Luis Abram, Thiago Almada and Giorgos Giakoumakis all returned to the starting lineup after international duty.

Atlanta started the match on the front foot and had the first opportunity through Caleb Wiley. In the fifth minute, Giorgos Giakoumakis laid off a long ball into the path of Wiley who took a first-time shot from the top of the box but Carlos Coronel made the save. However, it was the home side that found the back of the net first.

Following a long throw-in into Atlanta's box, Daniel Edelman struck a left-footed half volley from about 10 yards out into the right side of the net past a diving Brad Guzan. The Red Bulls doubled their lead just before halftime after they forced a turnover in Atlanta's half. Tom Barlow picked up the loose ball and played in Cristian Casseres Jr. who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner for the 2-0 halftime lead.

Atlanta came out of the break looking to cut into the New York lead. In the 61st minute, second-half substitute Machop Chol ripped a shot into the side netting from a tight angle after Andrew Gutman found him with a deft chip in the box. With Atlanta pushing for a goal, New York struck on the counter in the 78th minute. Guzan made an excellent save on Omir Fernandez's initial shot from six yards out. But the rebound was recycled to the penalty spot where Frankie Amaya scored on a deflected shot. In the 90th minute, Amaya added a second on another deflected shot that looped into the far corner.

Atlanta United (7-5-8, 29 points) returns to action when it hosts Philadelphia Union on Sunday, July 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
