A 19-year-old from Gainesville was arrested Wednesday in Hall County on allegations that he sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 16 earlier in the year.

According to B.J. Williams, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Zachary Harley Wainright, 19, was charged with sodomy and aggravated child molestation for the alleged incident in January.

Investigators said Wainright allegedly lured the victim into a restroom at a location on Yacht Club Road in Flowery Branch on the night of Jan. 13. That's when he allegedly sexually assaulted the minor.

Williams said the victim reported the crime the night that it happened.

"In cases like this, there's a lot of evidence that has to be sorted through," Williams said. "There are forensic interviews, forensic testing and that kind of thing."

Wainright and the victim knew each other but were not believed to have been in a relationship of any kind.

Wainright remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Thursday morning.

The investigation remains open.
