The Barrow County Sheriff's Office social media pages posted that Winder Police were confronted with a suicidal individual who was believed to be wearing an explosive device Wednesday at City Pond Park.

Once Sheriff's officials were called to assist, authorities worked to successfully negotiate with the individual at the park.

Shortly after the person was peacefully aided at the scene, the UGA Bomb unit safely disposed of the apparent explosive device with a loud explosion on site.

No injuries were reported. The person in question is receiving additional treatment, as of the last update.
