A Habersham County Emergency Services fire engine was involved in a wreck that shut down a roadway east of Demorest Friday morning.
A release from the county said the accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. on Camp Creek Road in front of the engine's station between Hulsey Road and Cody Road. The crash also led to a vehicle fire.
The fire was quickly controlled and no injuries were reported in the incident. Officials said the fire engine was damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
A spare fire engine is being placed in service at Station 14 to maintain response time for the agency. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
Camp Creek Road was shut down for just over an hour while authorities cleared the scene.
