Towns County homeowner holds burglary suspect at gunpoint

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Towns County authorities say two suspects have been arrested after a string of vehicle break-ins that led to one of the men being held at gunpoint by a local homeowner.

In a social media post Thursday, Towns County Sheriff's Office officials said the incidents took place on May 20 and started when deputies were called to a report of someone going through vehicles on Gumlog Road on the west end of the county. When deputies arrived, they were able to identify the suspects as Hunter Chase Adams, age 18, and Travis Richard Foskey, age 21, both of Young Harris.

Shortly after, deputies were called to a residence on the same road, where a homeowner was holding Adams at gunpoint. The woman had reportedly found Adams wearing her husband's clothing when she arrived, and authorities later determined Adams had forced his way into the home.

Investigators obtained warrants for Foskey and arrested him the following morning. Both men face 20 counts of felony entering an automobile as well as felony burglary charges.

Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson said he commends the homeowner for actions. Both men remain in the Towns County Jail, with each having bond of at least $10,000.
