Former NHall standout Reese Olson called up to 'The Show' by Tigers

DETROIT — Reese Olson will become the latest Hall County baseball standout to make the Major Leagues.

The former North Hall standout is being called up by the Detroit Tigers and is expected to make his Major League debut on Friday against the Chicago White Sox.

He has spent the entire 2023 season to this point with the Tigers' AAA affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens. For Toledo, Olson has posted a 2-3 record with a 6.38 ERA in 10 starts. Olson has fanned 47 and walked 22 in 36 2/3 innings.

Olson was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 after helping lead North Hall to its first-ever state championship in 2017 (Class 3A). He was traded to the Tigers in 2021 and has worked his way up the ranks over the past two seasons.

In 2022, he spent the entire season with AA Erie Sea Wolves, posting an 8-6 record with a 4.14 ERA in 25 starts spanning 26 appearances. In 119 2/3 innings in 2022, Olson struck ot 168 with just 38 walks.
